NASA - Mission to Mars
Vidyo Module
Please write a few paragraphs reflecting on your experience today talking to our friend at NASA. What did you find interesting? What are some new things that you learned? Was there anything you already knew that Mr. Storm talked about as well? What did you enjoy the most about this experience? Please make sure to be specific and explain your ideas.
One thing I found interesting is that no one has been to mars. Something else interesting is that spaceship capsules are so small. I learned that people do not have enough food to last the trip to mars. I also learned that NASA has pictures of mars. I have also learned that it takes about 4 to 20 minutes to send a message from mars to earth.
There was nothing that I knew already other than that no one has been to mars. I enjoyed the talking about the buggy on mars and that no one has tried to go to mars ever.

Vasco Nunez de Balboa
Vasco’s Friends & Family
“Famous for crossing the isthmus of Panama to the Pacific Ocean and becoming the first european to reach the Pacific Ocean via New World.” This quote was made by a person named James Drake. Vasco had a mother named Nũno Arías de Balboa. His wife’s name was Maria de Penalosa from Spain. He also had a backstabbing friend named Francisco Pizarro.
Francisco Pizarro was born 1471 or 1476 in Trujillo Cáceres Spain. He set sail with Vasco Nuñez de Balboa in 1513 to discovery of the Pacific Ocean. After the voyage with Balboa, he traveled to Peru with Diego de Almagro in 1526. Francisco conquered Cuzco and found Lima, the capital of Peru in the future. Almagro took over Cuzco and was killed by Pizarro’s step brothers. Pizarro was assassinated by Almagro’s followers in 1567.
María de Peñalosa was born in Segovia Spain in 1497. She does not have a very big history. She married Vasco in Acia (Vasco’s death place). When Balboa was beheaded, she married Rodrigo Contreras. Rodrigo, in 1535, became governor of Nicaragua. María died in 1573 in Nicaragua.
Nuño Arías de Balboa was born in 1415 or 1420 in a village of Spain. The village that Nuño was born in was in the eastern part of Spain and it was small. She lived there her whole life including when she died. In 1475 she gave birth to Vasco de Balboa, later the discoverer of the Pacific Ocean. She died in 1496, 17 years before Vasco set sail to the Pacific Ocean and the New World.
Francisco Pizarro was a friend and an enemy of olden days. Of María de Peñalosa, she had a life with a explorer and a governor. Nuño Arías de Balboa was a mother and someone to be proud of. When Pizarro arrested Balboa, Pizarro turned bad on Vasco and Nuño Balboa.
